Disney Vacation Club is Growing

It’s not really news to us because we are already Disney Vacation Club Owners, but it is now official, Bay Lake Towers at Disney’s Contemporary Resort in Disney World is set to open as a new DVC resort in late 2009. This is the 15 story building next to the Contemporary that is now under construction.

There has been much speculation about this building as Disney Cast Members, especially any who work with Disney Vacation Club was not allowed to provide information about the real use of the completed project. Our DVC guide laughingly told us it was going to be a Walmart when we asked him about it a few weeks ago.

The fact of the matter is that in Florida any real estate actions are open to the public. As much as Disney tried to hide the fact that Bay Lake Towers would indeed be a new DVC resort, the paperwork trail led the newspapers and those of us who follow these things to the truth.

This is going to be a spectacular resort, the closest DVC one to the Magic Kingdom. Bay Lake is the water behind the Contemporary. Some rooms will face that while others will have a view of the Magic Kingdom. The similarities to the Comtemporary don’t stop there. The shape is the same, the pool will be in the back by the lake and the color scheme wil be similar too.  The top floor features a lounge with a fantastic view and the Towers will connect to the Contemporary by a walkway.

The Treehouse Villas are the other new addition which is set to open the summer of 2009. This will be a new room category of the Saratoga Springs Resort, a DVC resort in Disney World. Do you remember the Treehouse Villas of the past? The new ones will be 10 feet high with 3 bedrooms, and have modern amenities like cathedral ceilings and flat screen TV’s.
