[Travel] - United Airlines
Here I am stuck in Hong Kong's wonderful airport again for the 2nd time in one month. Its a nice airport at least with lots of food and shopping. Well back to the story, how did I get stuck in Hong Kong overnight twice in one month? The first time was due to a Typhoon on August 22, 2008. All fine, but I was left wandering around the huge Hong Kong Terminal 1 with no one to give me the hotel voucher for the free overnight stay paid for by United for the delays. Fine, I thought, just a freak occurrence. Well yesterday, September 21, 2008, it happened to me again. I got stuck in Hong Kong overnight for the second time in one month! This time it was due to mechanical problems with UA 856. Boo. I spent 2.5 days in the last month waiting around inside hot aircraft with little air conditioning or in hotels. At least United was handing out this voucher thing as an apology.
In terms of comfort, I think All Nippon Airways (ANA) and Singapore Airlines (SIA) have by far better economy class seats than United. My business class united seat had an entertainment center that wasn't on demand. Even the SIA economy class entertainment centers had on demand channels and with far more variety and games than the United Business class seat. Since they are all star alliance I think I am just going to fly economy on ANA and SIA and just only fly Business on United from now on.
